The chilly wind blowing
The days growing shorter as the night grows longer.
The colorful leaves falling to the ground leaving this
once lively tree, bare.
Through the wind I hear a voice calling.
Whispering for me to come to you.
But where are you?

dragging it often and exposing it
to the daily folly
of relationships and associations,

Ignorant before the heavens of my life,
I stand and gaze in wonder. Oh the vastness
of the stars. Their rising and descent. How still.
As if I didn't exist. Do I have any
share in this? Have I somehow dispensed with
their pure effect? Does my blood's ebb and flow
change with their changes? Let me put aside
every desire, every relationship
except this one, so that my heart grows used to
its farthest spaces. Better that it live
fully aware, in the terror of its stars, than
as if protected, soothed by what is near.

Without breathing in toxic pollutants.
It is impossible to ingest nutritious food,
Without ingesting chemicals and preservatives.
It is impossible to have a loving relationship,
Without bumping into a loved one's emotional problems.
And it is IMPOSSIBLE not to BREATHE, EAT, and LOVE.
